back-to-school tips for Parents of intense gifted & 2e kids

Recording available through August 23rd

Why this workshop?

All kids and teens deserve a fun, safe learning environment that's a good fit with their skills and needs.

But traditional schools aren't designed with gifted or 2e students in mind. And teachers rarely have training in giftedness or twice-exceptionality. Even many gifted-specific schools don't know how to support emotionally intense or demand-avoidant 2e kids.

As a result, gifted/2e kids often feel under-challenged, over-pressured, misunderstood, and/or over-stimulated at school.

To help gifted/2e kids have a better school experience, I help parents feel more confident communicating with school and advocating for their kid's needs.

What's covered in the workshop?

This free workshop was 60 minutes long - here’s what was covered:

✅ Why the concept of a “good-fit” learning environment is essential to support intense gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) kids.

✅ Common school “mis-fit” problems for intense gifted and 2e kids.

✅ Guiding principles to support gifted/2e kids at school.

✅ Practical tips and strategies to advocate with school and put each guiding principle to use.

I also took a few minutes to share information about Support Your Intense Gifted/2e Kid, my 8-week group coaching program that helps you feel more confident raising your gifted/2e kid. No pressure to enroll - just some information about the program in case it's a good fit for you right now.

Hi, I’m Dr. Danika Maddocks!

I help parents understand and nurture their gifted and twice-exceptional kids.  I've been supporting families with gifted/2e kids for over a dozen years as a teacher, therapist, assessment provider, school consultant, and now a parent coach.

As a former gifted kid raising an intense gifted preschooler, I also understand these experiences from the inside out.

I combine practical tips and big ideas with a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming approach. I created The Gifted Learning Lab so more parents can get the information and support they need to thrive with their gifted/2e kids.
