Reduce holiday meltdowns with your gifted/2e kid

Why this workshop?

As the holiday season approaches, you're likely craving some rest, ease, and connection.

But the hectic pace of the holiday season and the increased excitement often lead to more stress, reactivity, and meltdowns for intense, sensitive gifted/2e kids and teens.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You know the holidays and school vacations are hard for your intense, sensiitve gifted/2e kid or teen. They have bigger feelings and more meltdowns during these times, but you’re not sure how to make things go more smoothly.

  • Some things about the holidays just set your kid on edge - it’s really tough for them to manage the change in schedule, travel plans, big gatherings, extended-family dynamics, holiday foods, or waiting for preferred activities.

  • Sometimes it feels impossible to enjoy events that are “supposed to” be fun because your intense gifted/2e kid complains, cries, refuses to go, or gets upset once you’re there. You might feel sad or jealous that your family can’t enjoy the same activities as other families.

  • You want a fun and peaceful holiday season, but standard parenting advice doesn’t work with your kid - so you’re not sure where to start.

In this one-hour online workshop, I’ll share holiday-season tips designed specifically for parents of intense, sensitive gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) kids and teens.

What's covered in the workshop?

Here’s what was covered:

✅ Why holidays and school vacations are tough for intense, sensitive gifted/2e kids - and how you can make them a little easier.

✅ Three guiding principles to avoid overwhelm, calm big feelings, and connect with your kid or teen even during holiday stress.

✅ Practical strategies and examples to help you apply each guiding principle to your family's holiday plans.

✅ Answers to audience questions about how to use these strategies in their own family.

I also took a few minutes to tell the audience about Support Your Intense Gifted/2e Kid, my small-group coaching program that helps you feel more confident and less stressed raising your gifted/2e kid or teen. No pressure to enroll - just some information about the program in case it's a good fit for you right now.

Hi, I’m Dr. Danika Maddocks!

I help parents of intense, sensitive gifted/2e kids and teens let go of the Standard Parenting Advice that doesn’t help and actually makes things worse - and start parenting in a way that works with your kid’s brain so both of you can have less conflict and more calm.

I've been supporting families with gifted/2e kids for over a dozen years as a teacher, therapist, assessment provider, school consultant, and now a parent coach.

As a former gifted kid and late-identified 2e adult - who's raising an intense gifted kindergartener - I also understand these experiences from the inside out.

I combine practical tips and big ideas with a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming approach. I created The Gifted Learning Lab so more parents can get the information and support they need to thrive with their gifted/2e kids.
